Who are Mark and Karen?

Karen was born near Glasgow in Scotland, into a Scottish/Italian family, growing up around Italian relatives, and Mark is English having mostly lived near London.

We moved here in July 2003 to escape working as Technical consultants within the Telecoms industry, but started looking for an Italian Retreat a couple of years earlier.

We were very fortunate to discover the property, offering us the ability to renovate both the building and the land to our needs. Why here near Fontanile and specifically La Granica? Well, as the saying goes …location, location, location! We just love the rural setting, the beauty of the area, the tranquillity of this valley, the Italian way of life, the summer weather and a lot more.

La Granica is our home, we live in one part of the Cascina and manage the hotel and farm, so if you have any problems, need information or want to tell us anything, then please feel free to approach us.
