Activities in the Region

The Monferrato offers a vast array of activities for every type of holiday. Maybe you want a holiday immersed in nature, with or without physical exertion or maybe you want to visit old Italy with all the culture sights and folklore this area has to offer. Alternatively, you may just want to relax amongst the vines by the pool with a good book and sample the tranquillity of La Granica.

Following are some useful links so you can get an idea of things to do in the area:

Sport & Fitness

If you are looking for light exercise then simply walking through the vineyards, up and down the hills and through unspoilt villages brings breathtaking views and the chance to savour a capuccino, an ice-cream or the local wine at the many Cantina's you'll pass.  There are several golf clubs in the region and are open to non members. Close by are stables that offer horse trekking through the hills and vineyards for all ages and is a great way to see the landscape and learn about its geography and traditions from the guides.

For the more energetic there is always rock climbing and mountain hiking in the Alps and in Winter there are many ski resorts about 90 minutes drive.  Of course cycling around the hilltop villages or further afield can be invigorating and is extremely popular with locals and visitors alike. The Giro d'Italia, one of the 3 grand cycling races tends to have at least one stage passing through Piedmont every year.

For football fans, why not take the chance to see Juventus in Turin or AC Milan or Internazionale Milan, or if out of season to simply visit the Clubs at the stadia.

After all that activity or none you can relax and be wrapped in the thermal treatments offered by many establishments   in the historic centre of Acqui Terme, an original Roman spa town, about 15 kilometres away.  Once enjoyed by the Romans with its thermal spring, the spa waters have been restoring a sense of well-being to it’s patrons since 2 AD.
